Are there concerted efforts to bring together two senior politicians, who have not been seeing eye-to-eye for some time, ahead of the 2022 General Election? Well, the plan is that one of them relinquishes his presidential ambitions in favour of another for a ticket they believe would counter the ODM leader Raila Odinga (pictured) side. Those aware of the machinations say one of the bigwigs is about to yield to pressure amid assurances that their ticket would be formidable. A vocal political figure from Western who is forging the new arrangement was overheard telling his friends how he was close to inking a deal with the two.

The simmering tension in the William Ruto-allied Tangatanga camp over the formation of parties smaller than UDA was revealed in Parliament last week. The row played out when a committee chairperson was responding to a statement request from a vocal MP over the proliferation of some unlicensed goods. A leading UDA luminary, an MP from Kiambu county, was overheard shouting that the lawmaker who sought the statement on the goods should be left alone, having caused himself trouble that has seen him indisposed for a while. The utterances left other MPs bewildered.

A state agency with crucial roles in the management of politics has been called out for being cosy with a potential supplier. A little bird whispers to Corridors of Power that the supplier took the agency officials on a secret tour of their country of origin. The officers were facilitated with air tickets, accommodation, and daily subsistence allowances at the cost of the supplier. The speed at which the trip was organised has elicited fears the business could have been awarded to the sponsoring company even before the tender was advertised. Those in the know say the deal is as good as sealed.

A vocal lawmaker from Rift Valley is under siege in the wake of roadblocks mounted by a colleague from his neighbouring constituency. The MP has twice been blocked from freely addressing residents of his constituency. The lawmaker’s neighbour has hirelings positioned to disrupt the MP’s meetings whenever he utters sentiments bordering on criticism of other prominent leaders in the country. The lawmaker out to checkmate his colleagues was overheard saying that the controls would be extended to other members of the targeted group in what he says will help nip poll chaos in the bud.
