A crisis is simmering at a public university. Staff members are adamantly opposed to controversial reforms, but it seems the reforms could be a cover-up to secretly dispose of university property in parts of the city. For instance, could a road agency have paid a colossal amount for land to build a key road kept under wraps? Other university property could be secretly changing hands. Maybe some have already gone. The staff at the institution are said to have tipped off the Ministry of Education under the leadership of CS George Magoha to stop the reforms.

A former governor from Rift Valley who is planning a comeback in 2022 got a rude shock recently after visiting a popular joint in Eldoret town. According to those in the know, the politician arrived there alone and settled at an empty spot. To his astonishment, all the revellers noticed his presence but did not bother about him and continued with their business. The former county boss is said to have gulped a large, half-full glass of straight whisky. Then he stood up and yelled at everyone who did not recognise him and respect his presence. An elderly man stood and told him his presence didn’t matter at all. “So what? You want us to cry or what?"

A first-term MP who runs a chain of businesses has of late become naughty and a nuisance. He is said to have recently intruded upon businessmen and ladies who were having an evening drink and chat at a popular joint in Upper Hill, Nairobi. The legislator, known in political circles as Mr Moneybags, insisted on picking up their tab. They declined, saying they were fine and could settle their own bill. But the tipsy MP asked the group to applaud him. They declined. Infuriated, the MP called the management and cleared their Sh50,000 bill. The businessmen and ladies were not amused after the politician demanded an audience with one of the ladies at the table. After the lady punctured his ego, the MP walked off in indignation and told his bodyguard and driver they should never visit that hotel again.
