Are influential people and political strategists around State House pushing for President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto to reconcile? A source within the circles has told Corridors of Power that with the Stop Ruto plans becoming barren, a diplomatic strategy has been deployed to approach the DP to reconcile with his boss. A team of prominent clerics and close family friends of the once indomitable duo are said to be working behind the scenes to bring the two together. And while the DP on Thursday said he is ready for talks, it is understood he is not really interested in the reconciliation, questioning the motive after close to three years of humiliation and being edged out of government. With what is said to be several research reports showing Ruto stands a good chance of succeeding Uhuru, the forces pushing for the reconciliation want assurance from the DP that all shall be well in the event he forms the next government.

A second-term MP from Eastern region is a worried man. Reason? The talk along the corridors of Parliament and his constituency is that he will be part of the 70 per cent of MPs who will not make a comeback after the August 9, 2022 General Election. Despite his sterling performance in development, it is said historically, no politician has served more than two terms. To break the jinx will require a miracle, which his supporters say is too remote at this time and the legislator may just need to plan his retirement. Of late, the MP is said to have opted for a low profile, mingling with constituents in shopping centres in his constituency in anticipation of life after Parliament.

Two MPs are reported to have nearly exchanged blows last weekend at an event in one of the constituencies. At the centre of their nasty exchange was who among them should read a speech prepared by their party leader. A source in the know says one of the politicians who initially thought he was the man of the moment got a rude shock when the area MP walked to the podium and said he had a speech from the party leader to read to the congregation. Feeling caught off guard, the other MP who was still seated, awaiting the MC to invite him walked to the podium and nearly triggered a fracas. The MP bitterly protested, accusing his colleague of walking around with River Road-written speech. On seeing that he could not win the tussle, the MP who is said to be eying a bigger seat stormed out of the meeting in protest.
