A senior Jubilee leader from Central Kenya has confided to friends that he may not defend his seat next year on the ruling party's (headquarters pictured) ticket. The MP, a high-flying member of the rank and file in Jubilee’s top figures, has been walking a political tightrope. One of his fiercest critics, now plying trade in UDA is allegedly at the pole position in the push to oust the ranking legislator. As things stand, the politician has already gone slow on attacks directed at his rival. It was in one of the sessions that he told select and trusted allies of his plans to eat the humble pie.

Is the entry of a Nairobi-based politician in the Kisii gubernatorial race causing ripples among the ODM bigwigs from the county? It is expected that the move by the fiery city politician could trigger fresh realignments among the 2022 hopefuls. While his decision is welcome within some quarters, there is a faction of top ODM honchos from the region who are unsettled by the developments. Before the politician’s declaration, the race had been framed as an easy ride for a senior ODM stalwart. A bruising battle now looms large in the county, with the heavyweights bracing for a major showdown in the battle for the party ticket.

A politician from one of the Northern counties, who is accused of micromanaging a governor for his own political and business interests, has taken his greed a notch higher. The seasoned lawmaker, even after controversially leasing his upcountry home to the county as the governor’s official residence, has apparently arm-twisted the county boss again. The MP is said to be linked to a certain airline that also won a tender to offer flight services to the county top bosses when on missions to Nairobi, including weekend rendezvous. To add salt to injury, a posh home in Nairobi allegedly developed by the politician has been earmarked for lease to serve as the governor’s city office and residence. Call it the making of a fortune for the politician.

It is not clear why a popular blogger has unleashed a ferocious political attack on President Uhuru Kenyatta’s camp. However, what is triggering speculations is his proximity to some of the key opposition leaders. For the last two weeks, the blogger has been going for the jugular, targeting the President over a plan to allegedly play a key political leader. His boldness and sustained onslaught have sent tongues wagging if the blogger could be on a hatchet man’s job. On whose instructions is he attacking the government? Why is he not being reprimanded by his political associates?
