It is alleged that the politician met Owalo's aides at an exclusive hotel in Nairobi's Muthaiga area on Tuesday night to develop working formula to turn the tables against ODM in Kibra. Politics is a dirty game indeed and it would be interesting to watch how allegiance would be shifting ahead of the duel slated for November 7.
On Thursday, a top official from the ministry of Mining held a clandestine meeting in Migori county that has generated controversy. This was just days after a mining task force led by Migori county commissioner Joseph Rotich had closed more than 40 illegal mining operations, including two belonging to a senior county official. The official had dodged being served with closure orders by a multi-agency team. The ministry official reportedly arrived impromptu at Rotich’s meeting alongside the county official and well-connected barons. Immediately after the meeting some closed mines, which are alleged to be using chemicals killings animals and plants. Some were opened with heavily armed police officers safeguarding the firms and Chinese nationals who were to be deported.
A wealthy Jubilee politician from Central Kenya has set tongues wagging after he held a huge meeting with more than 200 delegates from his Nyeri county. The meeting at his expansive Kitisuru home brought together opinion leaders, business magnates and university students. While the politician's agenda is not clear, those who attended the highly guarded session whisper to Corridors of Power that they were barred from entering the lavish home with their mobile phones. In fact, 10 people who defied the directive were summarily whisked away from the compound and given Sh1,000 each as fare back home. The meeting has triggered a storm and whispers that the tycoon could be plotting a political comeback.
A first-time MP from Nyanza region has become a laughing stock after launching 'non existing' medical college in his constituency. The MP is said to have invited guests, who included a senior Ministry of Health official, for the launching of an ICT hub building that he claimed to be housing the college. According to our moles, the Health official was told the medical students who study in the building were on leave and supposed to report back for studies this week. Some MCAs laughed off what the MP did since such institutions do not exist in his constituency.
