Deputy President William Ruto on Wednesday said he is being targetted in the war on corruption that he said has degenerated into impunity.

He said at a conference in Mombasa that there is an attempt to paint him in a bad light for political reasons. He made the remark as he opened the first Inter-Professionals Summit.

DCI probes how Sh5.6 billion disappeared from e-Citizen

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations is tightening the noose around high-flying Treasury officials and directors of two firms implicated in the Sh5.6 billion eCitizen scandal.

The Star has established that the DCI has launched investigations into the controversial online payments portal, in a major probe that could turn the spotlight on powerful government officials.


Ouko wants two MPs to refund Sh2m spent at World Cup

Two MPs who irregularly received Sh2.4 million from Sports ministry to watch the World Cup in Russia last year should pay back, Auditor General Edward Ouko has said.

In his latest report, Ouko flags the payment terming it irregular and directed the ministry to recover the cash.


Why JSC wants Justice Ojwang probed by tribunal

President Uhuru Kenyatta has been advised to form a tribunal to probe Supreme Court judge Jacktone Ojwang over gross misconduct.

The decision by the Judicial Service Commission was reached mainly because, in one of the complaints against the judge, there were sufficient grounds to warrant further investigations.


Moi slaps squatters with Sh8 million legal fee

Pastoralists living in the disputed Eland Downs in Laikipia county, previously owned by former President Daniel arap Moi, risk being auctioned by lawyers to recover legal fees.

Kiplenge and Kurgat Advocates who represented the retired president in the case are demanding Sh8 million as costs. They have written to the squatters' lawyer Suyianka Lempaa.


KNH crisis: staff unpaid, patients turned away

Staff at Kenyatta National Hospital on Wednesday told MPs their salaries are delayed and allowances unpaid as a financial crisis also takes its toll on patients.

Hospital operations are in peril, putting the lives of thousands of patients at risk, staff say. Hundreds of patients already are being turned away as the financial crisis threatens to get out of control.
