A one-year-old child was killed in a fire incident in Nairobi’s Kangemi area.
The incident occurred on Sunday morning, resulting in the destruction of several structures and leaving many homeless, according to the police.
The tragedy unfolded in the Sodom area of the sprawling estate.
Police were alerted to the incident and arrived at the scene, where the remains of the female child were later discovered.
The cause of the fire is yet to be established, prompting a police investigation into the matter.
Those affected by the fire are seeking assistance to rebuild the damaged structures.
In another incident in Mwiki area, a five-year-old boy drowned in a water hole at a construction site.
The boy was playing with other children in the area when he slipped into the hole dug to hold water for the construction site.
By the time other children raised alarm for help to retrieve him, he had drowned.
Police said they arrived at the scene and found the body already retrieved from the hole. They moved it to the mortuary.
An investigation has been opened into the tragedy, police said.
In the Ongata Rongai area, the body of a man was found in Kandisi dam.
The half-naked body was removed from the water and moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and identification, police said.
