Marsabit County spokesperson Alexander Barrile Abduba has denied claims of graft in Governor Mohamud Ali's led administration.

Senator Mohamed Chute on Saturday at a public baraza in Shegel claimed that Governor Mohamud's administration was not using funds properly.

He claimed in a period of three months used Sh640 million for relief food, Sh122 million for water supply, Sh32 million for waste collection and Sh81 million for office use.

But in a quick rejoinder, Barrile accused the senator of playing politics while giving wrong information further daring him to table his allegations on the floor of the Senate.

"Governor Mohamud-led administration has done a lot since he took over the power from his predecessor. The Senator has been at war with the governor since he was elected, it's not new, it is his character," said Barrile

While addressing the media at county headquarters, the county spokesperson said if Governor Mohamud was corrupt as alleged by the senator, investigative agencies would have held him to account.

"Election was just the other day, the senator has started politics and politicized all development projects. I think it is very wrong to mislead the members of the public. The DCI and the EACC are there to probe the governor and his officers if the senator's words are anything to go by," he said.

Barrile noted that Governor Mohamud's administration achieved a lot in his first five years in office adding his reelection offers him another chance to transform Marsabit county further.

"The auditor general has not indicated anywhere money lost in Marsabit county and the senator should support the governor than spin lies," he said.

Barrile denied claims that emergency money had been misused saying all funds can be accounted for.

"In leadership, you need time to deliver. The county government is breaking new ground in the implementation of development projects. Governor Mohamud Ali would work closely with all the leaders for purposes of development," he said

Community elder Tadi Gufu defended the governor and accused the senator of seeking political mileage from fake claims.

"It's only mature that the senator allows the governor to serve his electorates instead of coming up with fake allegations hoping to get political mileage," Tadi said

He urged county leaders to unite and work together for the sake of development.

He said all elected and nominated leaders irrespective of their political affiliations have a role to play in uniting residents while offering public service to the people.

"Wrangles and accusations will only hurt residents and will not benefit even leaders," he said

Another community elder Dida Wako advised county leaders to solve their problems amicably instead of dragging the public into their affairs.

He noted that continued wrangles erode public confidence in leaders.

He warned county leaders against engaging in early campaigns and instead focus on serving the electorates.

"We only want service from those whom we elected. Leaders should respect each other because when it comes to development it is for all of us," he said

Wako defended the governor against accusations by the senator saying the county boss is delivering useful projects.

"Governor Mohamud Ali's administration had put a smile on the face of the people through massive infrastructural development, human capacity building and empowerment.

Halima Abdi urged Marsabit leaders to stop early campaigns and initiate development projects saying leaders should tone down on politics.

"It is not fair to always have politics of confrontation in Marsabit from one political period to another without giving room for development," said Halima
