The speaker of a county assembly in a cosmopolitan devolved unit could soon face the wrath of his MCAs. The Assembly boss has been on the spot for apparently blocking MCAs’ requests for trips abroad and other benefits. While some criticise him as a sadist out to frustrate MCAs, others say the man has stood firm to safeguard taxpayers’ money from the extravagant ward reps. But the MCAs insist that it’s their right to travel and have threatened to teach him a lesson — impeachment — if he insists on his stance.
