The Football Kenya Federation National Super League clash between leaders Shabana and challengers Murang’a Seal has been abandoned.
Murang’a Seal players walked off the pitch saying it was unplayable following torrential rains that pounded Kisii county on Sunday.
By the time of abandonment in the 70th minute, Shabana were leading 2-0 courtesy of goals from Maurice Dukully and Vincent Nyabuto in either half. Murang’a Seal were playing a man less after Samuel Semo was sent off in the 22nd minute for a second bookable offence.
“We cannot play under these conditions because the pitch is waterlogged,” said Murang’a Seal coach Vincent Nyaberi, as he led his players off the pitch.
The centre referee and Shabana players remained on the pitch until the 90th minute when he called off the game after consulting with the match commissioner.
