Crowne Plaza Nairobi Airport has been named the best luxury airport hotel in Africa at the 2022 World Luxury Hotel Awards.
The airport hotel, was picked top from over 644 other hotels across the continent during the 2022 world luxury hotel awards held on October 23 in Antalya, Turkey.
Last year, the hotel appeared among the top 10 hotel destinations in the world.
“Considering the rating and votes based on our guests and industry players personal experiences, this award further recognises Crowne Plaza Nairobi airport efforts to provide a unique luxury Kenyan airport hotel , ” Barnabas Wamoto, the general manager of Crowne Plaza Nairobi Airport hotel said.
The awards had 100 categories among them global hotel of the year, luxury cultural hotel, luxury conference and event hotel and luxury destination hotel , all recognising global, continent, regional and country luxury accommodation.
Each year more than 300,000 international travellers vote in a period of one month to select the winners.
The world luxury hotel awards is the climax of achievements in the luxury hotel industry offering international recognition as voted by guests, travellers and industry players.
According to the Kenya Economic Survey 2022 , Kenya's accommodation and food sector was boosted by the lifting of most of the COVID-19 mitigation measures both overseas and domestically in 2021.
The sector registered the highest growth from a contraction of 47.7 per cent in 2020 to a growth of 52.5 per cent in 2021, mainly attributed to recovery of the tourism sector.
