Unemployment in the country has remained a debate for many ages.
The situation was made worse with the global pandemic that struck in 2020, leaving a majority unemployed, others closing down their small business due to the hard times.
However, the flexible mind was able to manoeuvre in the situation.
Schools turned into residential homes and chicken farming among other jobs was highly appreciated.
Others taking into the entertainment industry winning big endorsements like Flaqo, Crazy Kenna, TikTok sensational Azziad Nasenya just to mention, are among youths who reaped big in the pandemic over creativity and flexibility.
With many people attributing the dire situation to lack of funds, creativity and captivity of papers have worsened the situation even more.
Many youths are not ready to utilise their creativity and knowledge obtained in school to create employment, many have become captive of their papers awaiting jobs they pursued too.
The captivity of papers and titles has closed the creative minds of many potential employment creators in the country, with fear of being judged for undertaking another field.
Thanks to the new education curriculum Competency-Based Curriculum that enhances the use of talent nurturing the creative mind of students, and preparing job creators and not job seekers; it will be a new dawn in the country.
As campaigns continue, politicians have made promises to the youths.
However, all this will be in vain if they don't change their mindset and be flexible to adopt new ideas.
The promises will remain abstract and a major ride for politicians to access seats if the youths still await to be employed in big offices and have titles.
Only those with an open mind are to tap the promises of politicians.
The jobs that most youths assume and reject are among the best-paying jobs and huge sector for employment, for instance, agribusiness.
Unless the youths change their mind and use the knowledge to change their situation, all the promises and ideas given to them will be futile.
The government should make the youths funds accessible and the rigid protocols reconsidered to contribute to the fight against unemployment.
Quite a large number of youths are not aware of the fund that they can use to start their life and create jobs for themselves and others.
A flexible mind is able to adopt to any changes and situation, appreciate new ideas and eager to learn.
Unless the youths instil this culture in themselves and come out of captivity of titles and papers, the country unemployment rate will still be high.
