KImilili MP Didmus Barasa

I don’t think it is going to be possible for DP William Ruto to make ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi a running mate. That seat is reserved for Mt Kenya. We have already agreed on that. Our arrangement is on the basis of bigger things.

We are discussing ideas that will solve the country’s economic problems and the challenges Kenyans are going through. It is not about those smaller positions.

We are discussing the bigger picture of how we are going to form a government, the ideas, and the concerted efforts on how we will resurrect our dwindling economic fortunes and improve the lives of the Kenyan people.

Nobody should peddle lies by saying that we are considering Musalia for the deputy president's role. We have been with Mt Kenya allies for a long time and we agree it is a bigger constituency that we cannot afford to leave behind. That position, principally, belongs to them.

On whether Musalia has anything to bring to Ruto’s table, I am not going to focus on his strength as a politician. But I can dare say that he is one of those Kenyans with the brightest knowledge about our economy.

That is what the Hustler Nation is going to benefit from – his immense knowledge about running the economy, which is our first priority when we form the government.

The Amani leader understands our economy, was minister for finance when Kenya was not doing very well. That is what the Hustler government will benefit from, forget talk of positions.

An example of why positions don’t matter can be seen even today. Ruto is Deputy President by the constitutional provision but he doesn’t execute the powers required of his office. It is not about a person occupying a position but how they will use the same to contribute to our economy.

Those people arguing Musalia is dead politically are our competitors and we cannot listen to them. They cannot say anything good about us. Musalia’s political life is very active and people should wait until Kenyans form the next government and see the knowledge Musalia will inject to revive our economy.
