20KM WALK: Kisok Mixed Day Secondary School students outside the Baringo county offices last Monday.

Education stakeholders in Baringo have tabled resolutions to end ongoing student demonstrations over poor performance in the KCSE exam.

Head teachers, management boards, county education directors, security officials and politicians met at Kabarnet High School on Monday.

Among issues linked to the poor performance and the demonstrations are poor infrastructure, political interference, poor staff motivation and laxity.

Politicians were asked to stop interfering with the running of schools.

Head teachers were asked not to shy away from involving the police when students are out of control.

Arising problems should be tackled immediately to avoid student strikes, meeting chairman Titus Tuitoek said. More than 2,000 students from some 14 schools trekked tens of kilometres to seek audience at the county offices.

Students from Kapkawa Boys and Kisok Mixed Day in Baringo Central trekked 20km to Governor Benjamin Cheboi’s office last Monday.

Other schools that protested last week are Aiyebo Boys, Kasok Girls, Kapkiamo, Kapluk, Keturwo and Tany’ilel in Baringo North.

Others are Marigat and Sanga’rau Girls in Baringo South and Tabagon Girls, which demonstrated between last Monday and Friday.
