Success Masra, Chad's transitional prime minister, announced the resignation of his government on Wednesday.

The resignation, which paves the way for the formation of a new government, came a day before the swearing-in ceremony of interim president Mahamat Idriss Deby Itno.

Deby was declared winner of the May 6 presidential election.

Masra came in second with 18.54 percent of the votes.

"In accordance with the constitution, today, I have just submitted to the president of the transition my resignation as well as that of the transitional government, which has come to an end after the proclamation of the results of the May 6 presidential election," he said in a post on social media early Wednesday.
