Here, I disagree. I’m fiercely independent, and life has taught me that seeking help when necessary is part of living. No one succeeds in life without help. I know you’re strong but permit yourself to ask for help – it’s okay. This article is to encourage fiercely independent people to embrace the idea of freely asking for help. Here are three reasons.
You Don’t Have a Dependency Mindset: It is important to note that: the fiercely independent ask for help to move forward, not to be dependent on others. Life has happened, and they need that supportive push to make it through a hurdle or tough season. They have zero desire to create a situation of dependency on people; they do not think in terms of dependency – they seek lasting solutions. For this group, help is simply a stepping stone to move forward. If you have an independent mindset, then you qualify to ask for help. So, ask, get it, and move on.
Help Saves Time: This means you recover faster from a setback. When life gets tough, you can shorten the rough season by getting help quickly. The longer you stay without help, the more you prolong your difficult season – I learned this the hard way. So, when life happens, ask for help as fast as possible so that you don’t extend the time spent on difficulties. Yes, you’re fiercely independent, but for now, you need help to resolve your issue in good time. Be wise, get it, and move forward quickly.
Help Keeps You Humble: If left unchecked, the idea of independence can give you a false sense of security – where you believe that you need no one. In life, no one can succeed alone. You need people, and people need you. – we need each other. It is the humbling reality of life. From birth to death, you need help every step of the way. It doesn’t make you weak; it makes you human – and that’s okay.
