Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki has ordered the immediate recruitment of 200 National Police Reservists(NPRs), to be deployed along the borders of Wajir and Isiolo counties.

Addressing residents in Wajir on Thursday, he also ordered the vetting, training and armament of chiefs and assistant chiefs in the area to help with the maintenance of law and order. 

Kindiki further directed the formation of a 20-member council of elders drawn from both counties to formulate initiatives for lasting inter-community peace.
 

The CS conducted visits to Arabajan and Dadachbasha to engage with the communities.

He was accompanied by the Deputy Inspector General of Police Noor Gabow.

"Happy to see the great work our security officers are doing under very difficult conditions to protect lives and property," he said.

The government in collaboration with the Ministry of Interior has committed to end insecurity in the country.

While addressing residents in Kitui on the illegal herding, he also ordered for the recruitment of 250 police reservists.

"This place should be safe from now on. Recruitment should start immediately. In two weeks time, I will be here to launch the recruitment of 250 Kenya Police Reservists," he said. 

He said there will be no negotiations between criminals and the government.

"The work of security officers is to guard residents together with their properties, the weapon you have is to guard the locals, use it as the government will stand with an officer who uses his weapon to protect residents," the CS said.
