A governor aspirant from a counties in Deputy President William Ruto’s (pictured)Rift Valley turf is working overtime to be endorsed by opinion leaders and shapers in the county. This after it became clear the incumbent has settled on another hopeful. The hopeful recently organised a meeting with local elders to convince them to back his candidature. At the meeting, the man slaughtered white cows and goats to signify that he is a clean leader. He is said to be planning more of such meetings with various groups since he faces an uphill task of flooring the governor’s choice. The governor is said to be secretly campaigning to have the county assembly speaker succeed him.

Disquiet has greeted staff of a state agency dealing largely with foreigners due to the conduct of a top official who was recently seconded by a CS to run a department. The powerful and awe-inspiring official, rumoured to be a relative of the CS, is reportedly demanding sexual favours from female staff. He is harassing, threatening and intimidating those rejecting his advances. Some have been demoted for refusing to acquiesce. Recently, he managed to convince one employee, a married woman,, into his 'box.’ Soon, he bought her a luxurious car – a Lexus – as a gift. The suffering staff, most of them on contract, are now pleading to be shielded from the rogue official.

A lawmaker from Western is a disappointed man after his dream of chairing a House committee was thwarted at the last minute. The man had laid the ground for his election to the post which fell vacant after DP William Ruto allies were axed from plum posts. in a fresh purge by House leaders. Corridors is told the politician had invested heavily in his desire to chair the MPs’ panel only to be defeated when the vote was called. Some lawmakers were overheard whispering that the man’s concerted campaign to clinch the seat left a lot to desired, but they could not resist his tantalising benefits. Those voting against him took the goodies.

Divisions have rocked the leadership of a Mt Kenya-based political party after a public figure with questionable integrity joined the outfit. Corridors understands that top officials of the party had discussed the issue after the person – a former state official-cum-politician – sought to join the party. They reportedly clashed over the politician’s admission to the party. Many members are said to have held that the person’s past deeds could taint the image of the young party that has been firm on integrity. However, a clique of officials ignored the verdict of the majority. The politician is eyeing a top seat in the county in the region. Unhappy officials are now threatening to ditch the party.
