Bishop William Tuimising, the former overseer of Deliverance Church International has celebrated his 75th birthday with a message to churches to pray for peaceful elections come 2022.
Tuimising was part of the clergy who brokered a truce during the 2007/8 Post Election Violence.
He said the church should take its position to pray earnestly for the nation and all the leaders who are seeking elective posts so that we have a smooth transition.
“As we near electioneering year, I pray that we may be tolerant with each other, put God first and let God enable us to choose a leader that will carry the interest of this nation,” Tuimising said.
Born in 1946, he has founded more than 300 churches and rehabilitated more than 500 street children.
The bishop has had a long and illustrious career spanning more than 58 years and is among the founders of the Pentecostal movement in Kenya.
Born in Bomet County, in the days of colonial rule, he was called to servant-leadership and later steered Deliverance Church through the formation years of aligning the church with theological conservatism and biblical purism.
Last year, Tuimising was feted by Members of the Evangelical Movement.
