TSC to promote over 30,000 teachers across 30 cadres

Senior Teacher II accounts for the biggest share of vacancies at 13,490.

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has announced the promotion of 34,016 teachers across 30 cadres, in a major career progression exercise targeting teachers in primary and secondary schools.

An advert signed by TSC acting CEO Evaleen Mitei invites suitably qualified teachers to apply for the promotions ranging from job Group C2 to D5 in line with the commission's Career Progression Guidelines for teachers.

The recruitment exercise covers positions ranging from senior school leadership roles such as Chief Principal and Senior Principal to teaching, headteacher, deputy headteacher and curriculum support positions and lecturers.

They include 54 chief principal slots and seven chief principals in teacher training colleges (TTC) in Grade D5; 148 senior principals and seven senior principals (TTC) positions in group D4.

Others are 770 promotion vacancies to principals in grade D3, seven principals (TTC) in D3; six principals in Special Needs Education (SNE) schools under grade D3 and 891 deputy principal II positions in grade D2.

Other vacancies include 15 senior lecturer I, two senior master I, 34 Curriculum Support Officer I, seven Curriculum Support Officer I – SNE, 1,068 deputy principal III and five deputy principal III in SNE institutions.

The commission is also seeking to fill 199 senior headteacher positions, five senior headteacher (SNE) positions and 272 senior master III positions.

Among the remaining vacancies are 69 Curriculum Support Officer II (Regular and SNE), 1,865 Deputy Headteacher I, 20 deputy headteacher I (SNE), 44 senior lecturer III, 1,665 senior master III, 3,075 deputy headteacher II, 20 deputy headteacher II (SNE), 51 senior lecturer IV, 5,956 senior master IV (Regular and SNE), 20 secondary teacher I and 4,210 senior teacher I (Regular and SNE) positions.

There are 13,490 for senior teacher II (Regular and SNE) vacancies, making it the cadre with the highest number of promotions in the exercise.

The commission said interested candidates who meet the required qualifications should submit their applications online through the TSC portal by Monday, August 10 at midnight.

Manual applications will not be considered.

Mitei said successful candidates will be posted to schools where vacancies are available.

The commission also encouraged teachers employed by the commission and persons with disabilities to apply.

All applications will be reviewed based on the Career Progression Guidelines for the respective cadres.
