The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced a 30-day partial closure of the Coptic Roundabout along the Mamboleo–Kiboswa (A1) Road in Kisumu county to allow for road reconstruction works.
In a public notice issued on Tuesday, the authority said the affected section will be partially closed from July 20 to August 18.
According to KeNHA, the temporary traffic disruption will facilitate the removal of the existing roundabout as well as the reconstruction and realignment of the road section.
The authority said the works are part of ongoing efforts to improve the road network and enhance traffic flow along the busy corridor linking Kisumu and Kakamega.
Motorists using the route have been advised to exercise caution throughout the construction period and follow all traffic signs placed along the road.
KeNHA also urged road users to cooperate with police officers and traffic marshals who will be deployed on site to manage traffic and minimise disruptions.
The authority apologised for the inconvenience that may be caused during the construction period and thanked motorists for their patience and cooperation.
The Coptic Roundabout is a key junction on the A1 highway connecting traffic heading towards Kisumu and Kakamega and serves motorists accessing the surrounding Mamboleo area.
KeNHA said traffic will continue flowing through the area under traffic management arrangements for the duration of the works.
