President William Ruto on Monday hosted leaders from Isiolo, Marsabit, Garissa, Wajir and Mandera counties at State House, Nairobi, for consultations on accelerating development in the Northern Kenya region.
The meeting brought together Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale, Wajir Governor Ahmed Abdullahi, Garissa Governor Nathif Jama and Mandera Governor Mohamed Khalif, alongside other regional leaders, to deliberate on key development priorities and government projects in the five counties.
Ruto has repeatedly reaffirmed his administration's commitment to transforming Northern Kenya, saying the region will no longer be marginalised in national development.
He has said his government is deliberately investing in infrastructure, education, healthcare, water and security projects to ensure residents enjoy the same opportunities as other parts of the country.
Ruto has noted that for many years, Northern Kenya lagged behind due to historical underinvestment, but his administration is determined to reverse that trend through equitable allocation of resources and accelerated implementation of development projects.
He has insisted that every Kenyan, regardless of where they live, deserves access to quality public services and economic opportunities.
The President has said ongoing investments in roads,
electricity connectivity, water supply, schools and health facilities are part
of the government's Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), which
seeks to unlock the economic potential of the region.
