Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs Musalia Mudavadi has said peace, security and an efficient public service remain critical to national development, economic growth and social cohesion.

Speaking during engagements with security officers and National Government Administration Officers (NGAO) from Tiriki East and Tiriki West sub-counties in Kaimosi, Vihiga County, Mudavadi said strengthening service delivery, enhancing public integrity and improving coordination in implementing government programmes should remain a priority.

He commended the officers for what he described as their dedication and professionalism, saying they play a key role in maintaining peace, law and order.

Mudavadi said the officers are at the frontline of safeguarding national unity, protecting communities and creating a stable environment that supports development and attracts investment.

He also listened to concerns raised by the officers on resource allocation, operational capacity and staff welfare, and assured them that the issues would be forwarded to the relevant government agencies for consideration.

According to the Prime Cabinet Secretary, a well-equipped, motivated and accountable public service is essential in delivering quality services and meeting the expectations of wananchi.

Later, during a consultative meeting attended by more than 1,000 elders and stakeholders from Tiriki at the Kaimosi Friends University grounds in Hamisi Constituency, Mudavadi also addressed the political landscape ahead of the 2027 General Election.

He rejected calls by the opposition to reverse what he described as the gains made by President William Ruto's administration.

Mudavadi said the opposition was "disorganised" and "disjointed" and could not offer an agenda to Kenyans.

He said the meeting was part of his regular engagements aimed at fostering regional unity, building political support and preparing for the campaign period ahead of the 2027 polls.

During the meeting, elders from the Tiriki community presented requests to the national government on issues including equitable resource distribution, infrastructure, development, health, education, security and community well-being.

Mudavadi said the engagements would strengthen cooperation between the government and the community.

"This meeting signifies a new journey that we will walk together in supporting the government's agenda and looking forward to President William Ruto's re-election as a pathway for the Luhya Presidency come 2032," he said.

The meeting was attended by area MP Charles Gimose, Principal Secretary Jane Imbunya, Members of County Assembly and other national and regional leaders.

Earlier, Mudavadi toured Mudete Tea Factory in Sabatia on what he described as a fact-finding mission to better understand tea production and its contribution to the economy.

"Tea remains one of Kenya's most valuable cash crops, sustaining hundreds of thousands of families, generating foreign exchange and driving rural economic growth," he said.

Mudavadi said the factory has played an important role in improving the livelihoods of tea farmers since it was established in 1997.

"I have toured this facility to gain firsthand insight into the journey of tea from the farm to the cup. Since its establishment in 1997, the factory has played a transformative role in improving the livelihoods of more than 12,000 tea farmers across Vihiga and Kakamega counties," he said.

He encouraged farmers to continue investing in tea production and urged young people to embrace agriculture by adopting technology, innovation and value addition to improve productivity and competitiveness.

Mudavadi also said the government remains committed to implementing reforms in the tea sector aimed at increasing farmers' earnings, improving bonus payments, expanding Kenya's tea export markets and supporting sustainable incomes for tea-growing communities.

"The Government remains committed to implementing reforms in the tea sector aimed at increasing farmers' earnings, improving bonus payments, expanding Kenya's tea export markets and ensuring sustainable incomes for tea-growing communities. These efforts will strengthen one of our country's leading export industries while creating more jobs and driving inclusive economic growth," he said.
