The National Police Service has commissioned new Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) offices in Sotik as part of ongoing efforts to improve access to investigative services and strengthen crime detection in the region.
The facility, constructed through the National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF), is expected to enhance the capacity of detectives to investigate crimes while bringing critical investigative services closer to residents of Sotik and neighbouring areas.
Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja presided over the commissioning ceremony alongside Director of Criminal Investigations Mohamed Amin, Sotik MP Francis Sigei, senior government officials, security commanders and members of the public.

Speaking during the event, Kanja said the new offices demonstrate the government's commitment to strengthening security institutions through investment in modern policing infrastructure.
"Every community deserves to live in peace. Every victim deserves timely justice, and every citizen deserves the confidence that investigators are within reach," Kanja said.
He noted that continued investment in specialised training, technology and modern facilities remains key to improving the operational effectiveness of the National Police Service and equipping officers to tackle evolving security threats.

Kanja said expanding security infrastructure will also improve service delivery by enabling officers to respond more efficiently to criminal cases and support the administration of justice.
On his part, Amin described the commissioning as more than the opening of a government office, saying it represents an investment in public safety, accessible justice and responsive investigative services.
"Security is a shared responsibility. It is the foundation upon which families thrive, children pursue education, businesses flourish and communities prosper," he said.

He urged residents to work closely with detectives by volunteering information that can help prevent and solve crimes.
"You, the people of Sotik, are our eyes and ears. Together, we are stronger," he said.
Amin said the Directorate continues to strengthen intelligence-led investigations, expand forensic capabilities and deploy modern technology to tackle emerging forms of crime, including cybercrime, financial crimes, terrorism, money laundering and narcotics trafficking.
Sigei welcomed the commissioning, saying the NG-CDF-funded project will improve investigative capacity and make DCI services more accessible to residents.
He reaffirmed his commitment to supporting initiatives that strengthen security and improve the delivery of government services within the constituency.

Following the commissioning, the leaders toured the new offices and interacted with officers stationed at the facility.
The opening of the Sotik Sub-County DCI offices forms part of the National Police Service's broader strategy to modernise security infrastructure, improve access to investigative services and deepen collaboration between law enforcement agencies and the communities they serve in the fight against crime.
