Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has said consultations on the country's political future are continuing after receiving guidance from the leadership of Kiama Kia Kiama, which he described as the body entrusted with guiding the Kikuyu community on political, economic and social matters.
In a statement on X, Gachagua said the elders had offered him counsel on the way forward in what he described as efforts to "liberate" the country, including the formation of what he referred to as the sixth administration.
He described elders as "repositories of wisdom and foresight" who deliberate carefully before making decisions.
"I consider myself privileged to have received such wise counsel from the leadership of Kiama Kia Kiama, the elders entrusted with guiding the Kikuyu community in matters of politics, economics, and social issues," Gachagua said.
He added that the elders' guidance "ensures the safety and prosperity of our community and the nation at large."
Gachagua said the consultations had informed his next political steps.
"Through their counsel, I have been directed on the way forward in our journey to liberate our country, including the formation of the 6th administration," he said.
He said the elders had also stressed the need to protect community interests while working with other Kenyans.
"They have emphasized the importance of safeguarding community interests and working collaboratively with fellow Kenyans for the greater good of our beloved Kenya," Gachagua said.
He concluded the statement by saying consultations were ongoing and wished the country well, stating: "Consultations continue. God bless Kenya!"
