Detectives are investigating the death of a 22-year-old boda boda rider whose body was found near his home in Marani Sub-County, Kisii County.

Police are investigating the possibility that the rider was killed and that his motorcycle was taken.

Police identified the deceased as Brian Onduko Machoni. His body was discovered at about 4 am on Sunday.

Officers who visited the scene established that Machoni had last been seen at about 7 pm on Saturday riding his motorcycle along the Nyakoe–Marani tarmac road.

The motorcycle was missing when the body was found, prompting investigators to examine the circumstances surrounding his death.

A preliminary examination of the body revealed no visible physical injuries, although foam was observed coming from his mouth.

Crime scene officers processed the area before the body was moved to the Marani Sub-County Hospital mortuary, where it is awaiting a post-mortem examination to establish the cause of death.

Police said investigations are ongoing, including efforts to trace the missing motorcycle and establish the events leading to the rider's death.

Police have advised boda boda riders to cooperate during violent encounters to minimise the risk of harm.

Meanwhile, police in Gatundu South, Kiambu County, have launched investigations into the death of a 34-year-old woman whose body was found outside a boutique in Gatundu Township on Sunday morning.

The deceased was identified as Teresia Nyokabi Mboo, a resident of Kirangari Village in Ngenda Location, Gatundu South Sub-County.

According to police, the incident was reported at Gatundu Police Station at about 9 a.m. after the woman's body was found outside the boutique.

Preliminary observations indicated that her trousers and undergarments had been pulled down to her legs, and investigators are examining whether she may have been sexually assaulted before her death.

Police also noted visible bruises on her right hip.

The scene was documented and processed before the body was moved to the Gatundu Level Five Hospital mortuary, where it is awaiting a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death and whether there is evidence of sexual assault.

Detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident and working to identify those involved.

The death has heightened concerns over violence against women, with investigators expected to rely on forensic examinations and witness accounts as part of the inquiry.

Both incidents remain under investigation, police said.
