The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has extended operating hours at selected service centres, Huduma Centres and its contact centre to support taxpayers ahead of the June 30 annual tax return filing deadline.
In a public notice issued on Wednesday, KRA said the extended hours are intended to provide additional assistance to individuals seeking guidance and support in filing their returns through the iTax platform.
“To make compliance more convenient, we have extended working hours at selected service centres, Huduma centres and our contact centre. Whether you need guidance, support, or assistance with filing, we're available for longer to serve you. Don't miss the deadline. File your returns today,” KRA said.
Under the revised schedule, KRA service centres will operate from 7am to 7pm on June 26 and from 7am to midnight on June 29 and June 30.
The centres will also open on Saturday, June 27, from 9am to 1pm.
The authority's contact centre will similarly extend operations, remaining open from 7am to 10pm on June 26 and from 7am to midnight on June 29 and June 30.
Customer support services will also be available between 9am and 4pm on June 27 and June 28.
Selected Huduma Centres across the country will operate from 7am to 7pm during the filing period, while all other Huduma Centres will maintain their normal working hours of 8am to 5pm.
The selected Huduma Centres include GPO, City Square, Kibra, Makadara and Eastleigh in Nairobi, as well as centres in Mombasa, Nakuru, Kericho, Eldoret, Kitale, Meru, Embu, Kiambu, Laikipia, Nyeri, Thika, Kisumu, Kakamega and Kisii.
The extension comes as KRA intensifies efforts to encourage compliance before the June 30 deadline, when millions of taxpayers are required to submit their annual income tax returns.
Under Kenyan tax laws, all registered taxpayers, including those with no income during the year, are required to file returns through the iTax system.
Failure to file on time attracts penalties and may affect access to various government services that require tax compliance documentation.
KRA has in recent years increased digital support and taxpayer education initiatives aimed at simplifying the filing process and improving voluntary compliance.
The authority continues to urge taxpayers to file early to avoid last-minute system congestion and ensure they meet their legal obligations before the deadline.
