Lands PS Nixon Korir has maintained that delivery of major infrastructure and public service projects remains the responsibility of the government, arguing that opposition politics does not translate into tangible development on the ground.

Speaking during the official opening of a lands office in Ol Kalou, the PS said development initiatives are implemented through government structures and programmes.

He urged residents to align themselves with the administration in order to benefit more from ongoing initiatives.

“Development projects are driven by the government, not the opposition. There is no road, hospital or major development project that has been built by the opposition,” Korir said.

The PS added that leadership choices often influence access to development, noting that residents should remain aware of where government programmes and resources are channelled.

“Some people find themselves on the opposition side by coincidence, but right now the people of Ol Kalou know which side the government is on. Do not join the opposition while clearly knowing where development comes from,” he added.

Korir’s remarks came as the State officially opened the Nyandarua Lands Office in Ol Kalou.

The move is aimed at decentralising land services and improving access for residents who have for decades relied on offices outside the county.

The new office is expected to streamline land administration, reduce travel distances and improve efficiency in the issuance and processing of land documents.

During the event, the government also issued 27,000 title deeds to beneficiaries from colonial villages, in what officials described as a major step toward strengthening land ownership rights and promoting economic empowerment.

The issuance is expected to enable thousands of families to formalise ownership of their land, unlock investment opportunities and enhance access to credit facilities.

Out of more than 400,000 land records earmarked for transfer in the county, 296,000 have already been relocated from Nyahururu to Ol Kalou, according to the Ministry of Lands.

The event brought together senior national and county government leaders, underscoring the significance of the new office in expanding access to government services.

Among others present during the event were Lands CS Alice Wahome, her Tourism counterpart Rebecca Miano, Nyandarua Governor Moses Kiarie Badilisha, Nyandarua Woman Representative Faith Wairimu Gitau and Roads Principal Secretary Joseph Mbugua.

Former Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria and other leaders also attended the launch.

Officials said the establishment of the office and issuance of title deeds reflect ongoing efforts to decentralise services and accelerate socio-economic transformation through improved land governance and secure property rights.
