Police officers in Nairobi have dealt a major blow to illicit drug networks following a successful tactical operation conducted in the Laini area of Kibra.
The operation, which was spearheaded by undercover officers from Kibra Police Station, was carried out after security agencies received actionable intelligence regarding suspected narcotics activities in the area.
Acting on the information, the officers launched a carefully coordinated sting operation that culminated in the arrest of key suspects believed to be involved in the illegal drug trade.
During the operation, law enforcement officers recovered a significant consignment of assorted narcotics and related items suspected to have been used in the distribution and consumption of illegal substances.
Among the items seized were syringes and needles, assorted liquid drugs, unidentified tablets, multiple rolls of cannabis sativa, alcohol swabs, cotton wool, and packets of candles.
The recovered items are expected to form part of investigations as authorities work to establish the full scope of the suspected drug distribution network.
The successful operation underscores ongoing efforts by security agencies to disrupt and dismantle criminal enterprises involved in the trafficking and sale of narcotics within Nairobi and other parts of the country.
Following their arrest, all suspects were escorted to Kibra Police Station, where they were placed in custody pending further police processing. Authorities have indicated that the suspects will be arraigned in court once investigations and procedural requirements are completed.
Meanwhile, the confiscated narcotics and other recovered items have been securely stored in the station's exhibits room as police continue with investigations.
The National Police Service has reaffirmed its commitment to intensifying intelligence-led operations targeting illegal drug networks across the country.
The service noted that the fight against narcotics remains a key priority in efforts to enhance public safety and protect communities from the harmful effects associated with drug abuse and trafficking.
Members of the public have also been urged to remain vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement agencies by reporting any suspicious activities linked to drug trafficking or other criminal activities.
Reports can be made through the nearest police station, emergency numbers 999 and 911, or through the Directorate of Criminal Investigations' toll-free hotline, #FichuaKwaDCI, on 0800 722 203. Information can also be shared via WhatsApp through the number 0709 570 000.
Police have assured the public that similar
intelligence-driven crackdowns will continue as part of sustained efforts to
combat the spread of illegal drugs and dismantle criminal networks operating
across the country.
