Four siblings drowned this Sunday evening while swimming in an open quarry in Kisumu.

The four brothers, aged 15, 13, 10, and 8 years, drowned in the quarry next to Kudho Primary School in the Kanyakwar area, Kisumu Central sub-county.

The abandoned quarry is said to have deep sections filled with water.

Kondele Location Chief Maurice Ajwang confirmed the tragedy, saying all four bodies were retrieved from the quarry.

Preliminary reports indicate that one of the boys ventured into the deeper end of the quarry and began to drown.

His three brothers reportedly jumped in to rescue him but were also overwhelmed by the depth of the water and drowned.

Residents who rushed to the scene raised alarm, prompting rescue efforts that led to the recovery of the bodies.

The bodies were later taken to the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital morgue as police launched investigations into the incident.
