Political activist Kasmuel McOure meets Brian Kipkorir of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) National Youth Congress on December 15, 2025 / HANDOUT

Political activist Kasmuel McOure on Monday met Brian Kipkorir of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) National Youth Congress to discuss strategies for consolidating young people under the Broad-Based Youth Front.

McOure said the initiative seeks to create a coordinated platform for youth engagement, with the aim of advancing a unified Youth Agenda and engaging the government directly.

During the meeting, McOure and Kipkorir focused on building internal cohesion among participating youth groups, developing a shared framework, and ensuring clarity of purpose before expanding outreach nationally.

“In line with my commitment to rally young people under the Broad-Based Youth Front to spearhead the Youth Agenda and engage the government directly, I met Brian Kipkorir of the UDA National Youth Congress at Hustler Plaza to discuss a coordinated approach to youth organising within the Broad-Based arrangement. Our discussion focused on consolidating young people across participating parties, strengthening internal cohesion, and developing a shared framework before expanding outreach nationally,” McOure said.

“The objective is clarity, structure, and seriousness of purpose. The youth must organise themselves before seeking to onboard others.”

McOure described the meeting as productive and encouraging, noting that structured engagement can translate into meaningful participation in governance.

He added that further engagements are planned to refine strategies, align priorities, and prepare for a national rollout that will present a coherent, youth-driven agenda.

McOure said the Broad-Based Youth Front aims to advance a deliberate, strategic, and long-term vision for good governance under President William Ruto.

“The meeting was productive and encouraging. Notably, Hustler Plaza hosts a significant number of young professionals occupying substantive positions of responsibility. It signals that youth inclusion can move beyond rhetoric when intention meets structure,” he said.

“Engagements of this nature will continue as we refine ideas, align priorities, and prepare for a national engagement to present a coherent, youth-driven case.”

On December 10, McOure announced that the Broad-Based Youth Front would begin engaging the government directly on matters affecting young people.

He said the move represents a shift away from reliance on political intermediaries.

According to him, the movement will not take direction from politicians who were absent during last year’s youth-led street demonstrations. He expressed concern that some leaders are attempting to reinsert themselves into youth issues without what he described as genuine commitment.

“We are in this Broad-Based Government until it fully delivers its mandate, and we intend to own that process to the very end. We will not be swayed by opportunistic rhetoric or political reinventions disguised as youth advocacy. Starting today, we will lobby the government directly through a unified youth front,” McOure said.

He pledged that the youth front would advocate for accountability and reforms that reflect the needs of the country’s largest demographic.

McOure has previously called on elected leaders within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) to remain committed to the Broad-Based political arrangement between ODM and UDA, which he said was formed in the interest of national unity and stability.
