
A 22-year-old man drowned while attempting to rescue a goat that had fallen into a water pan in Mbaruk area, Gilgil, Nakuru County.
The incident occurred on Wednesday in Marura village.
The man, identified as Boniface Mutinda, was caring for goats when one slipped into the water pan.
He reportedly tried to retrieve the animal but also fell into the pan and drowned.
Both the body of the man and the goat were recovered hours later.
The body has been moved to a mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures, police said.
In Nyamira County, police are investigating the death of a 36-year-old woman, Lilian Mokeira Ombaso, whose body was discovered in her home in Nyaramba on December 10, 2025.
According to authorities, the body was found by her husband, who had left her at home in good health earlier that day.
The cause of her death has not been established, and the body has been moved to a mortuary pending an autopsy.
In Kasarani, Nairobi, detectives are investigating the death of a man found with a deep cut to his head near Mradi Stream in Sunton area.
The body was discovered hours after the incident, and the motive is not yet known.
Police are treating the case as a possible murder.
No arrests had been made by Thursday, December 11.
Meanwhile, in Kiamaciri, Mwea, Kirinyaga County, police are investigating an incident in which a man was reportedly stoned to death over allegations that he had stolen two chickens.
The animals were found in a sack the man was carrying at the time.
The body has been moved to a mortuary pending identification and an autopsy.
Authorities noted that murder cases have been on the rise in recent months, with several cases pending in court while others remain unsolved.
