Chief Justice Martha Koome will preside over the official closing of the High Court Annual Human Rights Summit 2025, at Eka Hotel, Nairobi.

The closing of the summit, which has been ongoing since Monday, will start 9 am.

The three-day summit — held under the theme “Upholding Human Rights in a Changing Kenya” — provided space for judges, human-rights advocates, civil society organisations, and other stakeholders to engage in deep discussion on the state of rights and justice under Kenya’s constitutional framework.

During the opening of the summit, chair of the Senate Standing Committee on Justice, Legal Affairs and Human Rights, Senator Hillary Sigei said realisation and protection of human rights in Kenya is a collective responsibility that cannot be left solely to the Judiciary.

At the inaugural 2024 summit, participants reviewed the country’s evolving human rights landscape, highlighting the role of the judiciary in enforcing constitutional protections such as the right to peaceful assembly, due process, protection of vulnerable groups, and protection from arbitrary evictions.
