
Police are investigating an incident where a man who had been reported
missing was found dead in a forest in Kobujoi, Nandi County.
The lifelife body of Daniel Kibet, 49, was found in the forest with his left wrist chopped off and with deep cuts on the head and left knee.
He was rushed to a local hospital where it was confirmed that he had died long ago.
He had been reported missing on December 5. His body was discovered a day later, police said.
Police said a suspect was arrested in connection with the incident.
The
motive is yet to be established. The body was moved to the mortuary pending an
autopsy and other investigations, police said.
Meanwhile, a man was shot and killed in an attack by gunmen in Lake Turkana.
The incident happened in Kokuro area, which is near the Ethiopian-Kenya
border and left one Ekwanga Lokoroma, 25 dead, police said of the December 6
incident.
A group of men had gone to fetch water from the lake when they were ambushed and attacked by gunmen believed to be members of the Dasannech gang. This sparked a shootout with a group of local herdsmen who were armed.
Tension remained high in the area amid fears of more attacks or
retaliation.
More patrols have been enhanced in the area to address the growing fears
of attacks by the gang, police said.
This is the latest such incident in the area amid operations to tame the
practice.
Meanwhile, a robbery with violence suspect escaped from a hospital he had
been admitted to at the Thika Level Five Hospital.
The suspect had been admitted to the hospital with injuries
pending production in court following his arrest on December 5, 2025.
He is said to have sneaked out of his hospital bed on December 7, 2025
and escaped through the back gate.
It happened that while the said prisoner was being served with lunch in
his hospital bed, he disappeared unnoticed to an unknown destination, police
said.
He was being guarded by two police officers at the hospital. They were
questioned as part of the probe into the incident.
An operation to rearrest the suspect continued on Monday, police said.
Elsewhere in Soin, Kericho county, police are investigating an incident where unknown people set fire to several acres of sugarcane plantation.
The motive
of the incident is yet to be known, and no arrest had been made by Monday,
police said.
Elsewhere inthe Muthurwa area, Nairobi, a police officer was stabbed and injured in an attack by four men.
Police said their colleague had been attacked by the four who said they wanted to take revenge on him.
It was then that one of the men stabbed the
officer in the middle finger, seriously wounding him in the Sunday evening
drama.
He was later
rescued by members of the public and taken to hospital in a stable condition.
Police said
they are searching for the assailants for interrogation and other procedures.
And police shot
into the air to disperse a group of thieves who had raided Delmonte Farm in
Murang'a to steal pineapples.
This was after the group tried to confront and stone a team of police officers who were patrolling the area to address cases of stealing of the products from the farm.
A group had invaded the farm and stolen the product on Sunday when police arrived.
This forced some of them to abandon the motorcycle they were using and
escape on foot.
It was then that a group emerged and tried to retrieve the motorcycle while confronting the police.
Police responded by shooting into the air to disperse the group and
managed to detain the motorcycle. A team has been retained to patrol the area
and fight off gangs that raid the farm for the product.
This has seen dozens of suspects arrested, and the stolen pineapples recovered
