Kisumu Woman Representative Ruth Odinga has expressed gratitude to friends, colleagues, and supporters who joined the Odinga family for a memorial Mass in honour of her late sister, Beryl Achieng Odinga.

The Mass, presided over by Father Steve, brought together family members, political leaders, and residents who gathered to pray and reflect on Beryl’s life.

Ruth said the show of solidarity had brought strength to the family, which has been grieving two major losses in a short span.

The legislator extended a special appreciation to lawmakers who attended the service, noting their presence had offered comfort during a particularly difficult period for the family.

“We were joined by family and friends for a Mass in Memory of Beryl Achieng Odinga presided over by Father Steve. A special thank you to my colleagues: Hon. Dr. James Nyikal, Hon. Anthony Aluoch, Hon. Dr. Christine Ombaka, Hon. Okuome Adipo, Senator Muma, Hon. Dr. Lilian Gogo, the MCAs, and all who were present to console with us,” she said.

The Kisumu Woman Representative reflected on the emotional toll the past weeks have taken on the family, coming just 40 days after the burial of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

“The past 40 days since our brother Raila was laid to rest have been an immensely challenging period. Your support, solidarity, and prayers have been a cornerstone for us throughout this difficult journey, and we are deeply thankful,” she noted.

The Odinga family is set to continue funeral arrangements for Beryl as leaders and supporters rally around them with messages of comfort and support.

Earlier, the Odinga family appealed to Kenyans for financial support to help cover funeral expenses for the late Beryl in memorial service and mini fundraiser scheduled for today, Sunday, November 30, 2025.

The appeal was shared by Kisumu Woman Representative Ruth Odinga, who described her sister Beryl as a warm, generous, and deeply loved family member whose passing had left the family devastated.

The family urged friends, relatives, and well-wishers to join them in honouring Beryl’s life and supporting the family during the difficult period.

The family also shared details of a dedicated funeral fund, inviting contributions through Paybill number 8002413, with the account name indicated as Your Full Name.

“Together, we extend our heartfelt comfort and solidarity to the family she loved so dearly,” the statement read, noting that the event will serve both as a memorial and an opportunity to support the funeral arrangements.

The family has asked Kenyans of goodwill to stand with them as they prepare to lay her to rest.
