Voters in Mbeere North turned out in large numbers at Siakago Social Hall polling centre on Thursday as the by-election for the constituency got underway.
Scenes from the centre showed a cross-section of the community, including elderly citizens and youth, casting their ballots and having their fingers marked after voting.
The by-election follows the vacancy left by former MP Geoffrey Ruku, who was appointed Cabinet Secretary for Public Service in March 2025.
Residents were seen queuing patiently, observing electoral procedures, as security and polling officials oversaw a smooth voting process.
This by-election is closely watched as parties and candidates vie to fill the seat.
