Police in Narok County have launched investigations into the drowning of a ten-year-old boy in Nairegie Enkare, an incident that has left the community in shock and highlighted renewed concerns over the safety of children around open water sources.

According to police, the boy was swimming in a dam in the area on November 20 while in the company of other children.

Officers said the juvenile was engaged in swimming activities with his friends when he went under the water and failed to resurface.

Efforts to rescue him were unsuccessful, and his body was later retrieved from the dam before being moved to a local mortuary.

Police confirmed that inquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.

Authorities have urged members of the public to exercise caution around water bodies, particularly where children are involved, as investigations into the incident continue.

In a separate development in Kajiado County, police arrested a suspect in connection with the death of a 50-year-old woman whose body was discovered in a thicket in Kitengela.

The deceased, identified as Caroline Akinyi Ochieng, who lived in Pinebrook Premier Villas in Kitengela, was found on November 19, 2025.

Police said the suspect was traced and arrested in Kisumu on Saturday, where he had travelled after the incident. Officers reported that he was found in possession of the woman’s salon car. The motive of the killing has not been determined, and police indicated that the suspect was escorted back to Kitengela pending arraignment for murder as investigations continue.

Elsewhere in Nyandarua County, a bar altercation turned fatal after a 27-year-old man died in Ndunyu.

Police identified the deceased as Jeff Kaburu Muchai.

According to officers, Muchai was involved in a fight with other revelers at the bar when he was struck on the head and died on the spot.

The assailants fled immediately after the incident, police said.

The body was moved to a mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures as a manhunt for the suspects got underway.

In Migori County, a four-year-old girl died after being electrocuted in Macalder.

Police reported that the child was at a local posho mill when she stepped on a live exposed wire.

She was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.

Police confirmed that investigations into the electrocution are in progress.

Meanwhile, three police officers sustained injuries after their land rover collided with a commuter passenger train travelling from Miritini terminus to Mombasa Railway Station.

The collision occurred in the Jomvu area as the officers were en route to a crime scene.

They were taken to a local hospital with slight injuries and are receiving medical attention. Police said inquiries into the crash are ongoing.

In Kericho County, a police officer was admitted to Fortenan Hospital with serious burns following a domestic altercation.

The officer reported that he had been involved in a dispute with his wife that resulted in an attack involving hot water, leaving him with burns to the neck, chest and stomach.

Police said the woman was arrested pending interrogation and further processing over the November 21 incident.

Authorities in all affected regions have stated that investigations remain active as they work to establish the full details surrounding each case.
