Campaigns for the Malava parliamentary by-election intensified Friday as Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi and National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula joined President William Ruto’s aide Farouk Kibet in a high-energy push to secure victory for UDA candidate David Ndakwa.

The heightened mobilisation builds on the ongoing momentum, with UDA and allied leaders framing Ndakwa as the natural custodian of the development legacy left by the late MP Malulu Injendi.

The day’s first major stop was at 6:32am in Lukova, Manda-Shivanga Ward, where Kibet rallied residents alongside Lugari MP Nabii Nabwera, Caleb Burudi, Ryan Injendi, Shimaka, Kangwana and area MCA David Kivishi.

Kibet told the gathering that education, one of Injendi’s signature priorities, remained the backbone of Malava’s progress.

He said Ndakwa had committed to not only protect that legacy but lift the constituency’s development profile even higher.

Residents responded with overwhelming support, pledging to deliver Ndakwa at the polls.

“With less than five days to go, a vote for Ndakwa is a vote for progress, stability, and the future of Malava,” Kibet said.UDA candidate David Ndakwa with President William Ruto’s aide Farouk Kibet during a campaign rally on November 21,2025/FAROUK KIBET

By 9:32am, the campaign trail had shifted to Machemo in Chemuche Ward, where Kibet and Ndakwa were joined by MPs Innocent Mugabe (Likuyani), Nabii Nabwera (Lugari) and former Mumias East MP Benjamin Washiali.

They were hosted by local leaders including MCAs Sikolia, David Kivishi, Collins Ayugi, and Ryan Injendi.

Speakers emphasised Ndakwa’s promise to advance infrastructure, education and community empowerment, presenting him as the torchbearer of Injendi’s transformative vision.

“The only thing between Ndakwa and a resounding win is time,” Mugabe said.

The campaign crescendoed in the afternoon at Mahira, South Kabras, where Mudavadi and Wetang’ula joined former Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya and Governor Fernandes Barasa also joined the teams.

Also present were Deputy Governor Ayub Savula, MPs Fred Ikana (Shinyalu), Innocent Mugabe (Likuyani) and Emmanuel Wangwe (Navakholo).Farouk Kibet (right) with David Ndakwa and other leaders during a campaign rally on November 21, 2025/FAROUK KIBET

The leaders told residents that the by-election was a chance to sustain development through a candidate who enjoyed cross-county goodwill.

The crowd responded with a resounding declaration that South Kabras was solidly behind Ndakwa.

Later in the evening, at 7:34pm, Kibet joined Butali-Chegulo MCA Kevin Mahelo and Ndakwa at Chegulo Market to commission a new high-mast floodlight.

The installation, part of President Ruto’s rural lighting programme, has already boosted night-time activity in the busy market.

“Local traders can now operate safely and longer into the night, improving incomes and revitalising the local economy,” Kibet said, terming the project proof of Ndakwa’s transformative development agenda.President William Ruto’s aide Farouk Kibet, CS Wycliffe Oparanya, Speaker Moses Wetang'ula, Governor Fernandes Barasa and PCS Musalia Mudavadi during a campaign rally on November 21, 2025/FAROUK KIBET

With the November 27 poll approaching, the UDA campaign has shifted into full throttle.

The entry of Mudavadi, Wetang’ula and Ruto’s influential aide Kibet not only energised the ground but also positioned Ndakwa as the frontrunner in a contest closely watched for its political significance in Kakamega County.

IEBC started dispatching election materials Friday morning to various electoral areas.

Campaigns are set to officially end Monday.

The election is slated for Thursday, November 27.
