A section of professionals from the Luo community have declared their support for President William Ruto’s administration as political realignments intensify ahead of the 2027 polls.

Operating under the umbrella of the Ramogi Professional Caucus (RPC), the group said it has been following with “deep interest” the ongoing conversations within the Luo community about the region’s political direction.

According to the caucus, the time has come for the community to reassess its approach and embrace constructive engagement with the current government.

Speaking during a press conference in Nairobi, RPC chairman Joshua Nyamori said the caucus will actively encourage the Luo community to rally behind President Ruto in the spirit of cooperation and long-term development.

“Let’s not go to war with a President who is willing to engage us,” Nyamori said.

He urged Luo professionals, youth and opinion leaders to help steer the community away from “short-term sentimental politics” and instead focus on strategies that guarantee lasting socio-economic gains.

Nyamori commended Ruto for what he described as respect, goodwill and openness toward the Luo community. He argued that the President has shown a sincere desire to mend historical grievances and foster a new era of inclusion.

“Ruto has been magnanimous, respectful and willing to lend an ear to our community. This continues a pattern of the President trying to right decades of wrong and humiliation visited on the Luo nation,” he said.

The caucus pointed to government appointments, ongoing development projects and renewed national cohesion efforts as signs of the administration’s commitment to fairness.

Nyamori said the community acknowledges the ambitious measures outlined in the recent State of the Nation Address and is ready to support their implementation.

“As a people, we are never transactional in dealing with fellow human beings—whether it is in politics, business, or delivery of professional services,” he said. “We treasure honesty, forthrightness and communal good. We are keen to engage the President with these same values.”

The RPC further encouraged Luo leaders and residents to use the opportunity presented by the Broad-Based Government framework to push for meaningful dialogue and development partnerships.

Nyamori argued that the community must evaluate its political choices critically as the 2027 elections draw closer.

“We appeal to our people to interrogate our approach with a view to understanding what has worked and what has failed. We must avoid repeating approaches that have failed in the past,” he said.

The group also urged young people in Nyanza not to fall into destructive politics but instead support the infrastructure projects currently being rolled out by the national government.

“We choose strategy. We choose engagement. We choose development. We choose cooperation with President William Samoei Ruto in the interest of the community,” he emphasised

The RPC also expressed gratitude to the government for the support it offered during the funeral of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, noting that the assistance ensured a dignified send-off for a leader they described as “our son.”
