The Malava parliamentary by-election campaign intensified on Wednesday as President William Ruto’s aide, Farouk Kibet, conducted a door-to-door mobilisation drive in support of United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate David Ndakwa.

Addressing residents during the outreach, Kibet highlighted that a vote for Ndakwa could accelerate development initiatives in the constituency, including roads, electricity, and water projects.

He argued that Ndakwa’s alignment with the government could strengthen Malava’s representation in securing national resources.

Kibet, overseeing the ruling party’s grassroots strategy in the constituency, visited villages across Shirugu-Mugai, Butali-Chelugio, and Imbiakalo wards, engaging households, local business groups, and community gatherings.

During the visits, Kibet emphasised Ndakwa’s access to government structures as a potential advantage.

“Ndakwa has direct access to structures that deliver major projects,” he said.

The outreach was supported by Navakholo MP Emmanuel Wangwe, Taveta MP John Bwire, and local leaders who encouraged residents to support the UDA candidate.

As part of the tour, the team launched development initiatives and contributed funds to assist with church completions in several wards, gestures that were well received by community members.

Wangwe and Bwire highlighted that sustained development often follows leaders who maintain close ties with the government.

In Imbiakalo, residents gathered in large numbers to welcome Ndakwa and the visiting leaders. Ndakwa presented his development agenda, stressing the importance of advancing Malava’s interests at the national level.

“Our proximity to power is an opportunity we cannot waste,” Ndakwa said. “I will work to ensure Malava receives its fair share of development, including roads, youth employment opportunities, water projects, and the revival of stalled programmes.”

He also reaffirmed his commitment to completing ongoing projects initiated by the late MP Malulu Injendi, promising continuity and accountability.

Kibet called on the community to unite behind a candidate who could carry forward the development agenda. As the campaign moved through Shirugu-Mugai, West Kabras, and Butali-Chelugio, UDA leaders emphasised that alignment with the government could help facilitate constituency development.

This week’s outreach marks one of the most extensive efforts by the party in the constituency since the campaign began, reflecting UDA’s efforts to consolidate support ahead of next Thursday’s by-election.

On Tuesday, Kibet was joined by Governor Fernandes Barasa, his deputy Auyub Savula, and other regional leaders as the campaign enters its final days.

The intensified door-to-door engagement led by Kibet appears aimed at ensuring broad visibility for Ndakwa as the constituency prepares to vote.
