Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and his wife, Pastor Dorcas, during her ordination as Reverend/SCREENGRABFormer Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has delivered an emotional, heartfelt tribute to his wife, Pastor Dorcas Rigathi, as she was ordained a Reverend.
The event held on Saturday in Nyeri marked a significant milestone in Pastor Dorcas’s spiritual journey and a moment of immense pride for their family, with Gachagua taking time to honour her calling, sacrifice and devotion to ministry.
In a warm and passionate message, Gachagua said he was filled with profound joy as he witnessed his wife officially take on the mantle of Reverend.
“From the earliest days, I have witnessed her unwavering dedication to the word of God,” he started.
“As she is ordained before this congregation today, I am proud not only as her husband, but as a witness to her integrity, compassion, and faithful service. She embodies the qualities befitting a servant of Christ.”
He described Pastor Dorcas as the pillar of their household, a woman whose faith, discipline and commitment to serving others have held their family together.
“She is the glue that holds our family together. She is the matriarch of this small family, and all our lives revolve around her, and that is as it should be. She is a great believer in family values, and she has put her family first. Even as she supports the poor and the downtrodden, she still finds time to look after us," he stated.
Gachagua shared that their home had been among the first beneficiaries of her ministry, giving him a front-row view of her humility, care and passion for serving others.
He credited her for touching lives that society often overlooks, from widows and orphans to people living with disabilities, and especially the boy child, whose welfare she has championed so tirelessly that she is now fondly known as “Mama Boys.”
“Her ministry has been a beacon of hope and compassion. Through these acts, she has made the love of Christ visible and transformative in the lives of many," he said.
He also expressed deep gratitude to their children for standing firmly behind their mother’s mission. He revealed that as a family, they have committed to supporting her work financially.
“I want to thank my children for agreeing we always support Dorcas in her ministry. From our family earnings, the boys and I always give ten per cent to Pastor Dorcas to go and do her ministry," he revealed.
With a light-hearted touch that sparked laughter, he added: “It has reached a place it feels like a debt. She reminds us all the time, and we are persuaded that she does the right thing.”
Gachagua said the honour being bestowed upon his wife was especially gratifying for their family, having witnessed her diligence and devotion over the years.
“We have seen her work — and work hard,” he said.
Closing his tribute, he offered a tender affirmation that captured the emotion of the day: “Let me join the voice in saying, congratulations, my love!”
