A 63-year-old woman was found dead on a footpath in Mundobelwa village, Khwisero, Kakamega County, on Wednesday, November 12.

Police say Mary Muyokhwe was discovered near her home with stab wounds and bruises. The woman reportedly lived alone.

The motive for the death remains unclear. Her body was taken to a mortuary pending an autopsy.

Authorities noted that violent incidents, including murders, have been on the rise in the area, sometimes linked to land disputes.

In separate incidents, two people drowned on Wednesday. In Naishi, Njoro, Nakuru County, a five-year-old boy who had been reported missing on November 11 was found dead in River Njorori.

The boy’s parents said he had epilepsy. Police said there were no visible injuries on the body, which was retrieved by local residents and taken to a mortuary for an autopsy.

Investigations into the circumstances of the drowning are ongoing.

In Taita Taveta County, a 7-year-old man, Samson Mwazo, drowned in a dam within a sisal estate in Mwatate while accompanied by colleagues. His body was recovered and taken to a local mortuary pending an autopsy, and investigations are ongoing.

Meanwhile, in Nairobi’s Donholm area, a man was killed after an attempted mobile phone snatching incident.

Police said the suspect and accomplices tried to rob a pedestrian, and the man was later found dead on the roadside along Outering Road.

The other individuals involved reportedly escaped. Police reiterated that mob justice is illegal and urged the public to report suspects to authorities, warning that innocent people are sometimes mistakenly attacked by mobs.
