
Opposition leaders led by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka are expected at the burial of Terry Wanjiru Kariuki, the wife of late politician J.M. Kariuki, in Gilgil, Nakuru.
Wanjiru died on October 30, 2025, while receiving treatment at a hospital in Nairobi.
In a heartfelt statement, the Kariuki family described Wanjiru as 'more than the wife of a national hero; she was a light in her own right.'
They remembered her as a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend, who carried herself with quiet strength and compassion.
Kariuki, popularly referred to as 'JM', was a socialist politician during the administration of Jomo Kenyatta's government. He held different government positions from Kenya's independence in 1963 until his assassination in 1975.
Wetang’ula to open 11th World Scout Parliamentary Assembly in Nairobi
National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula will officially
open the 11th World Scout Parliamentary Union (WSPU) General Assembly at Safari
Park Hotel at 11 am.
Delegates at the meeting will visit Parliament of Kenya for the afternoon sitting.
WSPU is an independent association that brings together Scout-oriented parliamentarians from across the globe, fostering closer collaboration with the World Scout Movement.
Established in 1991, WSPU holds Consultative Status with the World Scout Committee and has been working with World Scouting since its foundation.
The General Assembly is normally held every three years, and the 11th edition started on November 9, 2025 under the theme of “Parliamentary Scouts in SDGs, Creative Economy and Climate Action”.
At the General Assembly, parliamentarians and Scout leaders from around the world will gather to discuss the direction and development of the Scout Movement, youth policy cooperation, and expanded legislative support.
MPs to meet cancer
organisations over access to treatment for patients
The Departmental Committee on Health of the National Assembly will hold a meeting with the Kenya Network of Cancer Organisations (KENCO) at Parliament Buildings from 10am.
The meeting deliberate issues raised in a petition concerning access to healthcare services for cancer patients across the country.
The session aims to engage stakeholders on the challenges faced by cancer patients and explore policy and legislative interventions to enhance cancer care and treatment in Kenya.
KENCO petitioned the National Assembly in October 2025 to
reform cancer care access and financing under the new Social Health Authority
(SHA).
The petition calls for enhancing oncology benefits, which were reduced from Sh600,000 per person to Sh400,000 per household, and for an independent audit of SHA funds to ensure adequate allocation to the Primary Healthcare Fund and the Emergency, Chronic and Critical Illness Fund.
Kenya, China to launch “Sing For Africa” music talent show in Nairobi
Kenyan and Chinese government representatives will launch "Sing For Africa" a music talent show produced by Hunan TV International, a subsidiary of Hunan Broadcasting System, in collaboration with leading African broadcasters and top-tier production teams.
The event will be held at Argyle Grand Hotel Nairobi from 10 am.
