A 27-year-old man was stabbed to death during a violent clash with his cousin in Nyamarambe village, Kisii County.

Police said the attacker also stabbed and seriously injured a second man who tried to intervene and separate the fight.

The assailant fled the scene after the Sunday night incident.

The deceased, identified as Eric Onchera, had picked a quarrel with his cousin before he was stabbed in the chest and died on the spot.

The man who tried to help was stabbed in the shoulder and taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Police moved the body to the mortuary pending an autopsy and further investigations, adding that the hunt for the suspect was ongoing.

Officers visited the scene and recovered the murder weapon, which was kept as an exhibit.

The killing caused tension in the village amid fears that locals might attack the homestead of the suspect in retaliation. Police said they had spoken to the families involved and assured them of justice.

Meanwhile, in Kokuro, Kanomeris village in Turkana County, a 20-year-old man died after being assaulted by his parents over claims he stole a goat.

The man, identified as Ekidor Ngirega, was allegedly beaten by his father and uncle following accusations that he had stolen a neighbour’s goat.

The family later buried the body in a shallow grave. Police said they plan to exhume it and pursue murder charges. The suspects had not been arrested as of Monday, November 10, and police said they were seeking a court order to allow the exhumation.

In Kilgoris town, Narok County, three suspects were arrested over the killing of a 15-year-old girl whose badly mutilated body was found in the Enkoperia area on October 29, 2025.

Police said the motive is yet to be established, but the three have been linked to the murder of the girl, whose body was found in a thicket. The killing had caused tension in the area.

The suspects were expected in court on Tuesday, where police planned to seek more time to pursue murder charges.
