Sheria House/ FILEThe Office of the Attorney
General and Department of Justice (OAG & DOJ) has released the
shortlist of candidates who will proceed to interviews following a highly
competitive application process for various positions advertised earlier this
year.
According to the notice on Tuesday’s
issue of My Gov, a total of 223 candidates will face interviews scheduled
to take place between November 25, and December 4, 2025.
The recruitment process follows a
call for applications published on May 6, 2025.
The application window closed on
May 16, 2025, attracting an overwhelming 10,173 applicants across
three advertised positions.
During the advertisement, Solicitor
General Shadrack Mose assured that the department is an equal opportunity
employer.
“OAG&DOJ is an equal employer
committed to diversity and gender equality within the organisation and
therefore encourages persons with disabilities, women, youth, and those from
marginalised areas to apply,” Mose said.
The data released by the department shows
that the Accountant II position drew the highest number of applications,
with 3,617 candidates vying for 10 vacancies.
Out of these, 91 candidates
have been shortlisted for interviews.
The Public Communication Officer
II post, which had two available slots, received 666 applications,
with 19 candidates making it to the shortlist.
Meanwhile, the Clerical Officer
II position attracted the largest pool of applicants, 5,890 candidates
competing for 10 positions, from which 113 candidates have been
shortlisted.
The department has advised all
shortlisted applicants to visit the official website, www.statelaw.go.ke,
for detailed interview schedules, including dates, venues and required
documents.
The OAG & DOJ has also invited the
public to share any credible adverse information regarding any of the
shortlisted candidates.
“Members of the public with any
adverse information on any shortlisted candidate are requested to submit the
information under confidential cover before November 25, 2025, to the Office of
the Attorney General, Sheria House, Harambee Avenue, Nairobi,” the department
said.
The Attorney General’s Office
emphasised that the recruitment process aims to uphold transparency, integrity and
meritocracy in public appointments.
The department reiterated its
commitment to equal opportunity and adherence to public service values outlined
in the Constitution.
The OAG & DOJ is the country’s
principal legal advisory body and a key institution in upholding the rule of
law, constitutionalism and access to justice.
The DOJ complements the OAG’s
mandate by overseeing legal policy, law reform, constitutional affairs and
access to justice initiatives.
The latest recruitment exercise comes as part of the government’s broader effort to strengthen institutional capacity within the justice sector and ensure efficient service delivery to the public.
