Top government officials, political leaders flock to Raila's funeral in Bondo

Several senior government officials have arrived for the funeral service of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology.

Cabinet secretaries Aden Duale (Health), Opiyo Wanday (Energy), Wycliffe Oparanya (Cooperatives and SMEs), Hassan Joho (Mining), Davis Chirchir (Infrastructure), Rebecca Miano (Tourism), Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen, and Defence CS Soipan Tuya have arrived for Raila's send-off.

National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula and his Senate counterpart, Amason Kingi, are present.

Other leaders are National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichungwa and Minority Leader Junet Mohammed and senators Edwin Sifuna (Nairobi) and Prof. Tom Ojienda (Kisumu).

Interior Principal Secretary Dr Raymond Omollo and Treasury PS Chris Kiptoo are among dignitaries who have arrived to pay their last respect to Raila.

Head of Public Service Felix Koskei, former Chief Justice David Maraga are also present.

Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, DAPK party leader Eugene Wamlwa, former Kitui governor Charity Ngilu, and former Interior CS Fred Matiangi have also arrived for the service.

Governors Fernandes Barasa (Kakamega), Kenneth Lusaka (Bungoma), Kisumu Deputy Governor Mathews Owili, and senior ODM leadership. Already, the body of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has arrived at the funeral service venue ahead of his final send-off.

The body of Raila was ferried from his Opoda residence by road under tight security by military officers and police.

Some of the mourners were overwhelmed emotionally after the arrival of the body of Raila and collapsed.

They were, however, attended to immediately by standby paramedics
