The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has announced the rescheduling of all promotional interviews that were initially set for Friday, October 17, 2025.  

This follows the government’s declaration of the same date as a public holiday in honour of the late Right Honourable Raila Amolo Odinga. 

In a circular dated October 16, 2025, and addressed to all teachers, the Commission stated that the affected interviews would be postponed and conducted on alternative dates. 

 “Following the Government’s declaration of Friday, 17th October, 2025, as a Public Holiday in honour of the late Right Honourable Raila Amolo Odinga, the Teachers Service Commission has suspended all promotional interviews previously scheduled for that date,” the circular read. 

The Commission further outlined new arrangements for the rescheduled sessions.  

“The affected interviews will be rescheduled across the three working days, commencing Tuesday, 21st October through Thursday, 23rd October 2025,” the notice signed by Acting Commission Secretary and CEO, E.J. Mitei (Ms.), stated. 

According to the circular, respective Regional Directors will be responsible for communicating the revised schedules and logistical details to the affected teachers in due course. 

 The Commission expressed its gratitude to the teaching fraternity for their continued professionalism and patience during the adjustment period. 

“We appreciate your professionalism, continued commitment, and understanding,” the Commission noted. 

Emphasizing the importance of teachers’ cooperation to ensure the smooth progression of the interview process despite the unavoidable change. 

The TSC also acknowledged the significance of the public holiday, describing it as a moment for reflection on the life and legacy of the late Raila Odinga, a national leader whose contributions to democracy, governance, and education have left a lasting impact on the nation. 

 “This moment offers us all an opportunity to reflect on the legacy of a national icon whose contributions to democracy and education remain indelible,” the circular stated. 

The declaration of the holiday is part of the national tribute activities planned to honour the former Prime Minister, who played a pivotal role in Kenya’s democratic reforms and public service transformation.  

The TSC’s swift adjustment to its calendar demonstrates the Commission’s sensitivity to national events and its commitment to ensuring both institutional order and respect for national heritage.
