A land dispute in a village in Kilgoris, Narok County, turned tragic when a man slashed and killed his brother in a fight.

Police said the incident happened in Tororek village and left Olosawoyo Munge, 28, dead. He was found lying in a pool of blood with a deep cut in the neck.

The deceased had earlier argued with his brother over a land matter before he was slashed fatally, police and the family said of the October 13, 2025, incident.

Police said the victim was pronounced dead on arrival at a local hospital, where he was taken.

The assailant was later arrested in the area by locals who handed him over to the police.

The killer weapon was also recovered, police said.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures.

Such incidents have been on the rise in villages, despite efforts to address them, according to police statistics.

Elsewhere, detectives are investigating the murder of a man whose body was found lying on the roadside in Rangwe, Homa Bay County.

The body of Jared Adeng, 37, was found with a physical head injury.

The motive of the murder was not immediately known. Police said they are investigating the incident as they moved the body to the mortuary pending an autopsy over the October 13, 2025, incident.

In Imenti, Meru County, one Francis Mugwika, 68, was found dead in a river after a suspected murder.

The body was found in the River Rware by a passerby who called the police.

Police said the body had bruises on the forehead, and blood was oozing from the left side of the ear.

The motive of the murder was not immediately known, police said as they moved the body to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures.

And tragedy struck a family when a two-year-old boy drowned in a swimming pool in Watamu, Kilifi County.

The incident occurred at the Tembo Village swimming pool while a group of children were playing there.

The deceased child is said to have slipped and drowned in the pool, which is in an apartment.

The boy was pronounced dead on arrival at a local hospital, police said.

Police said the body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and investigations.

Meanwhile, multi-agency teams are looking for a prisoner who escaped from Chuka GK prisons on October 12, 2025.

Officials at the facility reported that the prisoner, identified as Kelvin Murithi Njue, who had been sentenced to three years in jail for housebreaking, had escaped after scaling a fence.

Efforts to trace him were ongoing, police said.
