
A 67-year-old man was stabbed and killed in a robbery along Igobor road, Kaptembwo, Nakuru County.
Police said the deceased, identified as William Nyabera, who was a retired driver at the Ministry of
Information, was headed to his residence in Igobor area from Nakuru town riding
a motorcycle when an unknown number of thugs attacked him.
The gang stabbed him in
the stomach and chest in a confrontation before pushing him to the ground and
grabbing his motorcycle, which they used to escape from the scene on Sunday
night, police said.
Nyabera was rushed to
Nakuru Teaching and Referral Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The lifeless body was
moved to Annex Funeral Home for preservation, awaiting autopsy.
Police said they are pursuing
the gang behind the incident. This is the latest such incident where riders are
either killed or left with serious injuries in robberies targeting their motorbikes.
Police usually advise
the riders to cooperate with their attackers for their safety.
Elsewhere in Nyaigwa
village, Nyamira County, a woman died after jumping off from the second floor
of a house following an altercation with her boyfriend.
Police said Sheril
Ohanga died on arrival at a local hospital.
The body of the woman
had bruises on her left hand and blood was oozing from her left ear when police
arrived at the hospital.
The boyfriend was
arrested for grilling following the Sunday night incident.
The boyfriend told
police they were having drinks in the house and had an altercation before the
woman jumped off.
The body was moved to
the mortuary pending an autopsy and other investigations.
And in Magumu, Nyandarua
County’s Sasini village, one John Thuo, 28 was stabbed and killed by an
assailant during an argument.
He was stabbed in the
groin area sustaining a deep cut that led to profuse bleeding.
He was rushed to
Naivasha Level Four Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The victim was a casual worker within Magumu centre.
The assailant was
arrested hours later, police said.
Elsewhere in Runda,
Nairobi, a mob recovered a pistol and assorted stolen property in a failed
robbery incident.
The incident happened
along Kiambu Road near the Northern bypass bus stop, police said.
A security guard who was
headed home to the nearby Githogoro informal settlement said he was confronted
by a lone gunman who demanded that he surrender all his valuables and cash.
After the said gunman
grabbed his mobile phone he ran towards the Githogoro area as the victim raised
an alarm.
A group of boda boda
operators in the area joined the chase prompting the gunman to drop his pistol
and three mobile phones and escape.
Police were called to
the scene and took control of the Jericho pistol with an empty magazine and the
three mobile phones.
The victim was able to
identify his robbed mobile phone.
Police said they are investigating the incident.
