

At least one passenger died while 21 were left with serious
injuries after a bus overturned at the State House Road/Kenyatta Avenue
junction in Nairobi.
Police said the accident happened on Monday, October 13, 2025, night as the bus sped from Valley Road down to the city centre.
Survivors said the driver lost control of the bus as it sped down the hilly road and overturned at the junction.
The area is under construction. Rescuers rushed to the scene
and helped the injured to the hospital.
The City Hoppa Sacco bus landed on the left side of the road
as the passengers scrambled to escape.
The body of the deceased was moved to the mortuary pending
an autopsy. The wreckage was towed to the police station in Kilimani pending
investigation.
Last week, more than 30 people were left with injuries after
a bus plunged into a river in the Waruku area, Nairobi. The incident is under
investigation.
Meanwhile, two police officers were killed following a road
traffic accident that occurred on the evening of Sunday, October 12, 2025, at
around 8:00 p.m. along the Mwatate–Voi Road near the Landi area.
The accident involved a Nissan Note motor vehicle and a motorcycle
carrying two police officers.
Both officers were attached to Msau Police Station.
The motor vehicle was heading from Voi towards Mwatate when
its driver attempted to overtake another vehicle improperly, leading to a
head-on collision with the oncoming police motorcycle.
The impact left both officers with serious multiple
injuries, police said. They were rushed to Voi Moi Level Five Hospital, where
they succumbed to their injuries while receiving treatment. The driver of the
motor vehicle escaped unhurt.
Police said they are investigating the incident.
The case comes even as the country continues to record cases of accidents in various parts of the country.
A week ago, a road accident involving a bus occurred at Waruku, along the road leading to Gatina in Dagoretti North Constituency, Nairobi.
The bus, tipped onto its side and was partially submerged in the water, with people clambering over it in an effort to evacuate passengers trapped inside.
Preliminary reports indicated that at least 30 passengers were injured in the accident.
The months of August and September 2025 were marked by several tragic road accidents across major Kenyan highways.
As of August 10, 2025, Kenya had already recorded 2,933 road traffic fatalities since January 1st.
